At Mica Town Brewing, we honor the heritage of Appalachian mining by carefully crafting beer, cider, and spirits inspired by the geology and hard working people of Western North Carolina.

There’s rich history in these mountains. Evidence of mica mining reaches back almost 2,000 years for use as currency and jewelry.

Mica is a sheet silicate mineral with nearly perfect cleavage which is why it's easy to peel apart. Many of us collected this mineral as kids and some of us big kids still do. It's been used in everything from furnace windows, insulation for the earliest electric motors, and as a shining agent in cosmetics and plastics.

Answers to Common Questions

-Both of our locations are dog friendly. We welcome your furry friends to the outdoor spaces of both taprooms.

-Children of all ages are welcome too. Bar areas and barstools are reserved for those over 21 but all other indoor and outdoor seating is open to all.

-You’re always welcome to bring food in with you. Our Nebo location hosts rotating local food trucks. Check the calendar below for dates. Our downtown Marion location is nestled among great restaurants and we encourage you to visit them while your in town!

-Both locations carry a wide range of local snacks.

-We sell beer and cider to go in 32oz crowler cans and 64oz growler glass bottles. We’ll fill any clean growler under 128oz.

-In addition to beer, both of our locations carry cider, usually our own LKJ brand. Our Marion location also carries wine by the glass, top shelf bourbon and spirits, and cocktails. Our Nebo location is home to our distillery and you can buy bottles of our housemade rum or vodka, and cocktails any day we’re open.

-Mica Town hosts several pint nights and currently brews two fundraiser beers per year. If you’re interested in having Mica Town support your non-profit organization please read about our guidelines here.
